Devoxx Belgium 2018
from Monday 12 November to Friday 16 November 2018.
With more than 15 years of enterprise Java experience, I am familiar with all the usual technologies in the Java EE software development world. My expertise includes Angular, JSF, JAX-RS, JPA, Hibernate, EJB 3.x and several Spring frameworks. Since the advent of functional languages on the JVM, I have started working on Big and Fast Data technologies using with Python, Java and Scala. Outside work I am actively contributing to the Java Meetup in Groningen (NL), where we've hosted evening sessions about Angular, Ionic, Kotlin, with more to come.

The integration of event streams is becoming increasingly complex in the world of sensors, media streams and the Internet of Things. In this session I will discuss how
Apache Kafka and
TensorFlow can be used to process real time video events and send alerts when a potential burglary is detected.
Specifically, I'll discuss how
Kafka Connect and
Kafka Streams can be used to read images from a media stream and how this can be integrated with TensorFlow to analyse the resulting event streams.
Although the use case presented is based on home security, the same technology used to analyse event streams can be applied to other use cases, as I will demonstrate during this session.
